A 23-year-old job seeker from San Fernando, Pampanga, landed a job on the spot during the “Tara Trabaho, G?” Mega Job Fair held on October 8 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
Marjo Antonio expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying the job would allow him to help support his family.
Antonio was among thousands of job seekers who attended the event, which offered 3,143 job vacancies, including 2,163 local and 980 overseas positions.
Overseas opportunities were available in Japan, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Nigeria, Qatar, New Zealand, Australia, Guam, and Taiwan.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region III led the initiative in partnership with the Office of Senate President Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian to bring decent and meaningful employment opportunities closer to Filipinos.
Among those who supported the event were DOLE Region III Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region III Regional Director Atty. Marion Sevilla, Assistant Regional Director Alex Cruz, Pampanga First District Board Members Cherry Manalo and Christian Halili, and Pampanga PESO Manager Luningning Vergara.
Various government agencies and service partners also provided one-stop government services for job seekers.
The event was co-organized with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, led by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, along with partner agencies and stakeholders.
