Cebu Pacific (CEB) has become the first airline to use bridge-mounted equipment (BME) at Clark International Airport (CRK), marking another step toward reducing fuel consumption, carbon emissions, and noise during ground operations.
Introduced in October 2026 by airport operator Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD), the BME system supplies electricity and cooled air directly to aircraft parked at boarding gates, reducing reliance on jet fuel-powered auxiliary power units (APUs).
The initiative allows aircraft to draw power and cooling from airport facilities instead of onboard systems, helping cut fuel use, emissions, and ground-level noise.
“Cebu Pacific fully supports Clark International Airport’s APU OFF initiatives as part of our commitment to more sustainable operations. By reducing our reliance on onboard power generation while aircraft are parked, we can help lower fuel consumption and emissions. We are proud to be the first airline to use this airport facility at Clark,” said CEB Vice President for Customer Service Operations Lei Apostol.
LIPAD President and CEO Noel Manankil welcomed the airline’s participation, emphasizing the airport’s commitment to environmentally responsible operations.
“The operation of our new Bridge Mounted Equipment (BME) is inline with CRK’s commitment to a more sustainable operations and help our airline partners reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. We are grateful for Cebu Pacific’s support for this initiative,” Manankil said.
The Clark initiative follows Cebu Pacific’s pioneering adoption of BME at Mactan-Cebu International Airport in 2024.
The airline has also deployed electric ground support equipment, ground power units, and air-cooling units at Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Ninoy Aquino International Airport to further reduce emissions and dependence on aircraft APUs.
Through these initiatives, Cebu Pacific continues to strengthen partnerships with airport operators to promote cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable aviation operations.
The airline currently serves 35 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
