Pampanga moves to secure water supply ahead of El Niño

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda spearheaded a high-level meeting with national agencies and water utilities to strengthen Pampanga’s water security amid the threat of a severe El Niño.

Held at the Capitol’s Executive House, the meeting focused on ensuring adequate and uninterrupted water supply across the province as extreme heat and reduced rainfall threaten water resources in the coming months.

Among the key officials present were Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Administrator Atty. Jose Moises Salonga, DPWH Region 3 Director Arnold Ocampo, and Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) Engr. Arthur Punsalan.

Representatives from 12 local water districts, DENR Region 3, DENR-PENRO Pampanga, DENR-Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc., and Clark Water Corporation also joined the discussions.

The provincial government emphasized stronger interagency coordination and proactive measures to prevent water shortages and safeguard communities against the anticipated dry spell.
