President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the expedited construction of the 1.22-kilometer Sto. Cristo Flyover along MacArthur Highway to ease the severe traffic congestion that has burdened motorists and commuters for the past three years.
The President’s directive came after it was revealed that the project had been funded on a piecemeal basis, contributing to prolonged construction delays and heavy traffic along the busy highway.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon assured that the agency would closely monitor construction progress and secure sufficient funding to accelerate the project.
Dizon said the DPWH is targeting the flyover’s completion and opening to motorists by early 2028, providing much-needed relief to thousands of daily road users along the major thoroughfare.
