Globe expands hybrid and electric vehicle fleet to boost energy efficiency

Globe Telecom is accelerating its shift toward cleaner and more energy-efficient operations, strengthening its commitment to reduce carbon emissions and achieve its net zero ambitions.

As of August 2026, the telecommunications company had sourced at least 570 hybrid and electric vehicles for its employee car plans, shuttles, and corporate fleet. This includes 135 leased hybrid vehicles for field sales and operations, with plans to expand its company fleet to at least 500 electric vehicles by 2028.

To support the transition, Globe has installed electric vehicle charging stations in five buildings, with further expansion planned across its facilities.

The company is also integrating climate considerations into investment decisions through a shadow Internal Carbon Price of USD 20 per tonne of carbon dioxide. This mechanism encourages investments in energy-efficient technologies, including inverter air-conditioning systems and hybrid and electric vehicles.

“At Globe, sustainability is our purpose in action. We continue to embed climate action into the way we invest and operate because building more resilient operations goes hand in hand with reducing our environmental impact,” said Jerry Cabiles, Vice President for Supply Chain at Globe.

Globe’s decarbonization initiatives have delivered significant results, with Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduced by 15% against a 4.2% target, while Scope 3 emissions declined by 9.5%, surpassing its 2.5% target.

These gains reinforce Globe’s commitment to supporting the Philippines’ climate goals under the Paris Agreement while advancing a lower-carbon economy through sustainable investments and responsible business practices.
