Aftershocks continue following Magnitude 7.8 Sarangani quake

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded a total of 258 aftershocks following the magnitude 7.8 offshore earthquake that struck near Sarangani, as of 2 p.m. on Monday, June 8.

According to Phivolcs, the aftershocks ranged in magnitude from 1.3 to 6.7, reflecting continued seismic activity in the area after the powerful tremor.

Of the total number of aftershocks recorded, 84 have been plotted or located by monitoring stations, while 10 were reported as felt by residents.

Phivolcs continues to closely monitor the situation and has reminded the public to remain alert for possible aftershocks and to follow the guidance of local authorities and disaster management officials.
