The Angeles City Government and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) officially convened the Sapangbato Watershed Technical Working Group (TWG) on July 10 to advance the implementation of the Sapangbato Watershed Protection Program.
During the kick-off meeting, participants discussed the duties, obligations, and responsibilities outlined in the memorandum of agreement between BCDA and the city government, paving the way for the program’s implementation.
Among the priority activities identified were the coordination with barangay officials, Indigenous Peoples representatives, and other stakeholders; the conduct of socio-economic surveys covering households and business establishments within the watershed; and the use of drone LiDAR technology to produce accurate 3D maps and establish the protected area’s boundaries.
The Sapangbato Watershed is designated as a protected zone under the Comprehensive Land Use Plan of Angeles City.
The meeting was attended by BCDA officials and representatives from the Angeles City Government, including the City Planning and Development Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and the Angeles City Human Settlements and Urban Development Office, reaffirming their commitment to protecting the city’s vital watershed.
