Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. led a wreath-laying ceremony on May 7, 2025, in honor of former Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos, one of the province’s most revered sons.

The ceremony, held to mark Jose Abad Santos Day, paid tribute to the Kapampangan hero’s unwavering patriotism and sacrifice for the country. In his remarks, Mayor Lazatin called on Angeleños to live by the values Abad Santos stood for.

“As Angeleños and as Kapampangans, we are proud to call him one of our own. In remembering him, we renew our commitment to uphold justice, truth, and love for country,” Lazatin said.

Joining the mayor were Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, SK Federation President Richard Gaza, Jr., Barangay Sto. Rosario Captain Renato Cosme, SK official Dennis Duya, Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, Kuliat Foundation Inc. President Lincoln Baluyut, Arts and Culture Adviser Carmen McTavish, and members of the Jose Abad Santos Memorial Lodge No. 333 led by District Deputy Grand Master Very Worshipful Joey Pangilinan and Worshipful Brother Ronilo Roncal, Jr.

Under Republic Acts No. 7552 and 8815, May 7 is declared a special non-working holiday in Angeles City and the entire province of Pampanga to commemorate the heroism of Jose Abad Santos.
