Angeles City honors Youth Leaders at AYLA 2026

The Angeles City government recognized outstanding young leaders during the Angeleño Youth Leadership Awards (AYLA) 2026, celebrating their contributions to schools, barangays, organizations, and communities under the theme “Ing Parul ning Kayanakan.”

Inspired by the Pampanga Christmas tradition of Lubenas ning Pasku and the parol, the theme highlighted how young Angeleños serve as beacons of hope through leadership, education, advocacy, arts, sports, and community service.

Mayor Carmelo “Jon” B. Lazatin II urged the awardees to value their experiences, uphold patriotism and compassion, and work together to help build a brighter future for the city.

He also emphasized responsible technology and social media use, encouraging young people to promote accurate information, understanding, and unity rather than division.

Among those recognized were community-based and school-based youth leaders, Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners, Sangguniang Kabataan leaders and councils, youth organizations, and proponents of community development projects.

Lazatin stressed that the awards went beyond recognizing achievements, highlighting the perseverance, challenges overcome, and lives touched by the young leaders. He particularly commended ALS learners for demonstrating that one’s educational journey or circumstances should never hinder the pursuit of dreams and opportunities to serve.

The mayor challenged the awardees to become positive influences, mentor the next generation, and use their time, talents, knowledge, and influence to benefit others.

Through AYLA 2026, the city reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young Angeleños as partners in community development and future leaders.

Like the parol that illuminates the Christmas season, the awardees embody the spirit of “Ing Parul ning Kayanakan” — diverse in their journeys but united in working toward a brighter Angeles City.
