Angeles City hosts on-the-spot painting, exhibit

The Angeles City government hosted an on-the-spot painting and exhibition yesterday, February 10, at the Santungan Ning Kalalangan located at the Abacan Loop, Barangay Balibago, Angeles City.

Twenty local artists gathered for the event, which is part of the city government’s celebration of National Arts Month. 

Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting represented Angeles City Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. during the event.  Secretary to the Mayor Raffy Angeles, City Councilor Crisanto Cortez, City Engineer Donato Dizon, City Nutrition Officer Jermaine Jam Aguila, Mutya Ning Angeles 2022 Joanne Marie Thornley, Museum of Philippine Social History Curator Bettina Arriola, Kuliat Foundation Inc. President Lincoln Baluyut, Norman Tiotuico, Frederick Policarpio, Marlon Tuazon, and Rosette Biag also graced the on-the-spot painting and exhibition.

Also present during the said event are Gamat Kapampangan artists including their president Dr. Vittorio Pantig, members Edwin Dizon Catli, William Dorado, Arnel David Garcia, Persie Guzman, Alvin Dungca, Lloyd Dacayanan, Marylou Lilibeth Millán Dumas, Ailyn Gonzales, Reynaldo Cabague, Arnold Salunga, Ronald Buenacifra Jr., Aurelio De Guzman, Billy Corcuerra, Armando Andy Ramos, Genesis Reambillo, Jeffrey Gabatin, Herminigildo Pineda, Jessica Julia Jose-Cariño, Elizabeth Sison and Camille Joy Pingul.

The Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO)  executed the activity for those who desire to witness actual painting creations. 

Mayor Lazatin expressed his gratitude to the local artists for their efforts to magnify the cultural awareness of citizens in and out of the city.

“Batid ng buong pamunuan ng Angeles City ang mahalagang papel na ginagampanan ng sining at kultura tungo sa inaasam nating maunlad na lipunan,” Lazatin underscored.

According to ACTO head Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, the created artworks will be displayed at the Gallery of Culture and Arts Council of Angeles (CACA).

Meanwhile, Anak Bale Balayan, City College of Angeles Sayaw Angeleño Dance Troupe and Angeles University Foundation Dance Troupe performed during the event. 

Also part of the city government’s celebration for National Arts Month are an art workshop of mixed media by Aurelio De Guzman on February 11, 2023 at Museo Ning Angeles; Journey into Art, an artist’s talk and fine printmaking demonstration by Elmer Borlongan on February 18, 2023 at Museo Ning Angeles; Basic Kulitan Workshop by Aguman Kalalangan Sulat Kapampangan on February 24, 2023 at Caca Art Gallery, 2nd Floor, Angeles City Library and Information Center; and a musical concert on February 28, 2023 at Museo Ning Angeles.
