ANGELES CITY MOVES UP IN 2025 GLOBAL CITIES INDEX, NOW RANKED 488TH WORLDWIDE

Angeles City continues its upward momentum on the global stage, rising to the 488th spot in the 2025 Oxford Economics Global Cities Index, up from 502nd in 2024.

The city, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., remains one of only nine cities in the Philippines to make it to the index, which assesses 1,000 urban areas across the globe. Cities are ranked based on five core pillars: Economics, Human Capital, Quality of Life, Environment, and Governance.

This year, Angeles landed third among Philippine cities, following Manila (206th) and Cebu (470th), and ahead of Bacolod, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Dagupan, and General Santos.

Mayor Lazatin welcomed the recognition, citing it as a reflection of the city’s commitment to sustainable growth and effective public service.

“This shows that our programs are making a real impact — not just in attracting economic activity, but more importantly, in improving the everyday lives of our constituents,” Mayor Lazatin said.

In the 2024 index, Angeles ranked 5th among Philippine cities, with notable marks in Environment and Economics, including generating nearly ₱3 billion in local revenue even during the height of the pandemic.

The city’s consistent presence in the Global Cities Index highlights Angeles’ ongoing transformation into a more progressive, livable, and resilient urban hub
