BAND 94 PANDACAQUI BAGS GOLD, OUTSTANDING AWARD AT MALAYSIA INT’L BAND FESTIVAL

Band 94 Pandacaqui of Mexico, Pampanga brought home international pride after winning a Gold rating and the Outstanding Award (Open Division) at the Malaysia International FELDA Band & Orchestra Festival (MIFBOF) 2025 held on July 6.

Despite only a month of preparation, the group impressed judges and audiences alike with their discipline, musicality, and heart. The band was led by its proud director, Allein Canlas, who expressed deep gratitude to all who made the journey possible.

“None of these would have happened without the support of our sponsors, our local government units, and especially the parents of our members,” Canlas said in a post. “We did not beat anyone — we outdid ourselves. It was pure hard work and patience.”

The group also received valuable support from the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia, particularly Cultural Attaché Ms. Jesher Micha Carolino, who assisted the delegation throughout the event.

Canlas gave special thanks to Ms. Tiffany Chei Sundiang Manaloto, who took on the challenge of leading the band under pressure, and Mr. Lerry Tayao, the group’s concert master.

“I am mad proud to be the director of this group,” Canlas added. “To the young men and women of Band 94 Pandacaqui — you deserve all the credit and praise.

The MIFBOF 2025 is organized by the Malaysian Association of Marching Arts (MAMA), led by Mr. Jimmy Wong Yew Mun, and is recognized by Malaysia’s Ministry of Education.

Band 94 Pandacaqui’s victory is a shining testament to Filipino talent, perseverance, and unity — and a reminder that with passion and purpose, anything is possible.
