BDO waives Remittance Fees for donations to General Santos earthquake relief efforts

As relief and recovery operations continue in areas affected by the recent earthquake in General Santos City and neighboring communities, BDO Unibank has announced the waiver of remittance fees for overseas Filipinos sending donations through BDO Remit offices abroad.

The fee waiver program, which runs from June 8 to July 31, 2026, aims to encourage greater support for earthquake victims by ensuring that the full value of donations reaches relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Eligible donations may be coursed through BDO Foundation, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, GMA Kapuso Foundation, and the Philippine Red Cross, all of which are actively involved in humanitarian assistance and disaster response initiatives.

According to BDO, removing transaction fees allows overseas Filipinos to maximize their contributions and provide more meaningful assistance to families and communities working to recover from the disaster.

“During times of calamity, every act of generosity counts. By waiving remittance fees for relief donations, we hope to make it easier for Filipinos abroad to support families and communities as they recover and rebuild,” said Genie Gloria, BDO Senior Vice President and Head of Remittance.

The initiative forms part of BDO’s ongoing commitment to helping communities respond to crises and recover from natural disasters. Through its remittance network and partnerships with trusted humanitarian organizations, the bank continues to provide avenues for Filipinos around the world to extend assistance to those in need.

BDO said the program underscores the important role of collective action and community support in helping affected areas rebuild and move forward following calamities.
