Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II was recognized by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Regional Office 3 for his continued support in strengthening public safety and emergency response in Angeles City.

The recognition was given during the BFP Region 3’s 35th anniversary celebration on August 17, 2026, at Otel Pampanga in San Fernando City. City Information Officer Jose Aubrey “Jay” Pelayo IV received the award on Mayor Jon’s behalf.

The BFP cited Mayor Jon’s commitment and support, including efforts toward establishing two fire substations at Bayanihan Park and Cuayan.

The agency also recognized the Angeles City Government’s effective inter-agency coordination and prompt logistical and operational support during the collapsed-structure search and rescue operations in Barangay Balibago.

The recognition underscored the city government’s continued efforts to strengthen fire protection, disaster preparedness, emergency response and cooperation among response agencies.
