Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo led the celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day at the Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas in Angeles City on Thursday.
During the commemorative program, Gesmundo underscored the enduring significance of freedom, emphasizing that its true essence extends beyond remembering the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes.

The Chief Justice said the spirit of independence is best reflected in how Filipinos uphold it in their daily lives through responsible leadership, compassion for others, and a steadfast commitment to the country.
He stressed that freedom must not only be honored through historical remembrance but also strengthened through actions that promote good governance, civic responsibility, and love of nation.
The event gathered government officials, stakeholders, and members of the community in paying tribute to the heroes whose sacrifices secured the country’s independence and continue to inspire future generations of Filipinos.
