Cong. Pogi supports M4GG in Anti-Corruption Drive

Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has expressed support for the renewed call of the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) for greater transparency, accountability and public oversight in the national budget.

Cong. Pogi said on August 26 that he supports the coalition’s commitment to promote “transparent, accountable, and people-centered governance through strong and empowered local governments,” reiterated during its third anniversary summit on August 22.

“Public office is a public trust. It is our duty as public servants to ensure that we are always serving our constituents in good conscience,” he said.

A former Angeles City mayor and M4GG member from 2023 to 2025, Cong. Pogi has also backed greater transparency among public officials. In September 2025, he publicly released his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), saying such disclosure could help rebuild public trust and confidence.

He also cited his efforts as mayor to computerize revenue-generating processes in Angeles City to improve public services and reduce opportunities for fixers.

Lazatin likewise voiced support for placing the national budget on blockchain, beginning with the 2026 General Appropriations Act, as a measure to strengthen transparency and accountability in government spending.
