Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is set to lobby ₱200 million to fund the construction of computer laboratories in 19 public high schools in the First District in 2026.
The project will cover six public high schools in Magalang, 12 in Mabalacat City, and Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School (FGNMHS) in Angeles City. Each laboratory will be equipped with 50 computers, five printers for every 10 computers, two air-conditioning units, and a 55-inch smart TV.
The plan was discussed during an August 16, 2025 meeting with District Engineer Arnold Ocampo of the DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office, facilitated by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Chief Political Affairs Officer Reina Manuel.
Lazatin emphasized that education remains a top priority, noting that investing taxpayers’ money in facilities that strengthen youth development is an investment in the future.
During the same meeting, Lazatin also announced his intention to seek ₱260 million to repair all 173 day care centers in the First District, with provisions for two HP air-conditioners and a 55-inch smart TV in each facility. Currently, the First District has 78 day care centers in Angeles City, 62 in Mabalacat City, and 33 in Magalang.
As former Angeles City Mayor, Lazatin spearheaded the construction of 16 computer laboratories in public high schools across the city. Teachers have praised the facilities, with Enrile Lerit of Angeles City National Trade School describing them as “world-class” compared to those he had seen abroad.
Also present during the meeting were Lazatin’s staff members Mina Cabiles, Irish Llego, Michael Lising, Anneleen Antonio, Mary Jane Calimquim, Anne Salonga, and Sharmaine Gonzales.
