Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon and NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Reñon inspected the NLEX Tulaoc section in San Simon, Pampanga, as additional flood mitigation measures were implemented to help contain persistent flooding in the area.

The measures include the installation of sheet piles and the country’s first modular flood barriers, along with continuous siphoning, dredging and other ongoing flood-control efforts.

Authorities said conditions along the expressway have improved, with two lanes in both directions now passable and traffic flow nearing normal.

Floodwaters, however, continue to affect nearby communities and local roads, prompting the continued implementation of mitigation measures and monitoring in the area.
