CREC, PELCO I BREAK GROUND ON SOLAR PROJECT

Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation (CREC) and Pampanga 1 Electric Cooperative (PELCO I) have broken ground on their first embedded solar power project in Magalang, Pampanga.

The facility will have a 41-megawatt-peak (MWp) solar capacity paired with a 53-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS), making it the country’s first embedded solar facility with an Integrated Renewable Energy and Energy Storage System (IRESS).

Once completed in the second half of 2027, the project is expected to provide clean and reliable power to PELCO I consumers, potentially reduce system losses and electricity costs, and help the cooperative meet the government’s Renewable Portfolio Standards.

The project is part of a ₱4.05-billion project finance loan facility from LandBank covering two embedded solar developments.

It will be CREC’s third project in Pampanga, following the 115-MWp Arayat-Mexico Solar Farm and 42-MWp Citicore Solar Pampanga 1.
