CSF-LGU develops Health Management InfoSys

The City Government of San Fernando is now developing its own Health Management Information System (HMIS) – a tool used by various agencies to manage health-related records more efficiently and accurately.

The initiative is in accordance with City Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag’s vision for a “smart” City of San Fernando, where digital and technology-driven services will be provided to Fernandinos.

The development of the HMIS will be jointly undertaken by the City Health Office (CHO) and the City Information and Communications Technology Office (CICTO).

The HMIS is a process of “recording, storing and processing health data” which will help an agency in planning and implementing health programs.

Once implemented in the city, the CHO, its rural health units and barangay health stations will make use of the system to access the medical information of Fernandino patients.

On January 23, 2023, the CICTO conducted a walkthrough of the initial features of the system as it consulted the CHO about its recommendations to enhance the existing system.

Leading the activity were City Health Officer Dr. Rowena Salas and CICT Officer-in-Charge Atty. James Francis Villanueva, with City Legal Officer and Acting City Human Resource Management Officer Atty. Jose Elmer Teodoro and various program implementers.

After a series of enhancement activities, the city government will launch the HMIS in February in consonance with the celebration of San Fernando’s 22nd Cityhood anniversary. (CSFP CIO)
