The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Luzon celebrated new recognition for its reforestation and watershed rehabilitation efforts in Bulacan and Tarlac during the Annual Million Trees Challenge (AMTC) Recognition and Commitment Ceremony of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) and Million Trees Foundation, Inc. (MTFI).

The PENRO Tarlac received the “Kampeon ng Kalikasan” award for contributing more than 50,000 tree seedlings and saplings to tree-growing activities in priority forest areas and key watershed ecosystems.

Meanwhile, CENRO Guiguinto, Bulacan was honored as “Kampeon ng Tubig Kanlungan” after planting 173,639 seedlings covering 549.9 hectares in Norzagaray and the City of San Jose del Monte.

DENR Central Luzon Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the recognition reflects the sustained efforts of the agency and its field offices to restore degraded forestlands, rehabilitate watersheds, and strengthen partnerships for environmental conservation.

The AMTC, an initiative of MTFI, promotes sustained tree-growing activities among government agencies, local governments, private organizations, academic institutions, and communities in support of forest restoration and watershed rehabilitation.
