DENR LEADS COASTAL CLEAN-UP IN BATAAN FOR MONTH OF THE OCEAN

In celebration of the Month of the Ocean this May, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Luzon, in partnership with the local government and SM City Pampanga, spearheaded a coastal clean-up drive at Aguawan Beach.

Roughly 140 kilograms of waste—mostly straws, plastic utensils, styrofoam, diapers, clothes, and slippers—were collected along the shoreline.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized the importance of making environmental care a part of daily life through simple actions like proper waste disposal. Aguawan Beach, which was declared the first swimmable beach in the Manila Bay area in 2019, continues to benefit from regular clean-up activities.

This year’s celebration carries the theme: “Unlock Ocean-Based Solutions to Climate Change.”
