DPWH to complete rehabilitation of Paniquian River Wall in Mariveles before end of 2022

The Department of Public Works and Highways – Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office is expediting the completion of the ongoing repair of a 178-linear meter revetment wall along the Brgy. Maligaya Section of the Paniquian River in the town of Mariveles.

In his report to Regional Director Roseller Tolentino, District Engineer Ulysses Llado said, “communities near the Paniquian River are vulnerable to flooding and the existing concrete slope protection structures were damaged by previous typhoons, prompting the DPWH to allocate funds for its rehabilitation.”

The P5-million project, now in its second phase, is expected to prevent riverbank erosion and provide protection to residents against flooding.

Funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act, the implementation of the river wall rehabilitation project began in August this year and is expected to be completed before the year ends.
