The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Aurora, through its Consumer Protection Division, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Aurora, conducted a two-day training on the calibration of weighing scales and sealing and testing of fuel dispensing pumps on April 21–22, 2026 at the Capitol Training Hall.
The training gathered 32 participants from various local government units, including personnel from Municipal Treasury Offices, Business Permits and Licensing Offices, Market Offices, and members of Local Price Coordinating Councils (LPCCs) across the province.

The activity aimed to enhance the technical skills of LGU personnel in ensuring accurate weights and measures, in line with Republic Act No. 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines and existing Philippine National Standards.
Norlito Tiglao served as resource speaker, providing lectures and hands-on demonstrations on proper calibration, inspection techniques, sealing procedures, and compliance monitoring. Participants also underwent field visits to the Baler Public Market and two gasoline stations for practical application of the procedures.
The training also emphasized identifying violations and enforcing appropriate measures to protect consumers from deceptive and unfair trade practices.
DTI Aurora Provincial Director Veneracion said the initiative serves as both a refresher for experienced personnel and a learning opportunity for new participants, noting its importance in strengthening local enforcement capabilities.
“This training is a long-overdue need of the LGUs and is timely in capacitating LPCCs to be able to respond effectively to the present crisis. Through this initiative, LGU personnel are ensured to remain competent and up-to-date in implementing weights and measures regulations,” Veneracion said.
DTI Aurora said the program reinforces its continued commitment to consumer protection, fair trade practices, and stronger coordination with local government partners.
