The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac has trained 21 members of the Maunlad Sugar Planters Association in Barangay Maasin, Pura on muscovado processing under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
The program aims to boost the valueof their sugarcane harvest and maximize the use of the kabyawan (sugar mill) provided by the Department of Labor and Employment in May 2025.

DTI Tarlac expressed confidence that the group is ready to venture into muscovado production, citing their active participation in CARP programs and strong supply of sugarcane in the area.
Participants also learned to use muscovado sugar in products such as cookies, muffins, piyaya, caramel candy, and syrup.
Association chairperson Eddie Daileg thanked DTI for the support, calling the training their first step toward manufacturing and product development.
DTI assured continuous assistance through product development and exposure in trade fairs once their products are market-ready.
