The Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. will host an art exhibit featuring the works of 40 local artists in celebration of this year’s National Arts Month in February.
The exhibit titled “Pamamunla”, which will run from February 7 to 28, 2022 at the Ground Level of SM City Clark, is open to the public.
The city government will also hold a series activities that can be enjoyed by Angeleño enthusiasts even at the comfort of their homes, such as a online workshops for Basic Kulitan Ancient Kapampangan calligraphy, spoken word poetry and short film making contests.
“Binibigyan po natin ng kahalagahan ang sining, gayundin ang mga artists natin sa patuloy na pagtataguyod at pagpapunlad nito. Kaya naman buong suporta po tayong nakikiisa sa National Arts Month tuwing Pebrero,” Mayor Lazatin said.
All of the art activities for the celebration can be accessed at the Angeles City Tourism facebook page, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel shared.
The series of workshops for Kulitan Basic Kapampangan calligraphy will be led by Norman Tiotuico on February 14 and 23 at 10am. The poetry reading will be facilitated by Janella Moira Manabat, Rico Salac, and Gabriel Carl De Guzman on Feb. 9, 21, and 24 at 10am. Meanwhile, the short film making contest will be held on February 28.
According to Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, ACTO Officer-in-Charge, explained that another exhibit will be held at the MarQuee Mall on February 16 to 28, 2022, featuring the works of local artists.
Mayor Lazatin wants to continue strengthening and nurturing arts in the city under the new normal setting.
The mayor reaffirms the city government’s commitment in providing assistance to all local artists, especially during the pandemic.
“Patuloy po ang mga programa at serbisyo natin para sa local community of artists natin, para matulungan natin silang maipagpatuloy nila ang kanilang sining,” Lazatin said.
