GOVERNOR PINEDA PUSHES FOR STRICTER TRAINING, REQUIREMENTS FOR BUS AND TRUCK DRIVERS

To promote road safety and protect lives, Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda is working closely with key transportation agencies and stakeholders to enhance the training and regulation of bus and truck drivers.

In coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the private firm Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the provincial government aims to strengthen driver competency and road discipline through targeted programs and skills training.

MPTC Chief Regulatory Officer Arrey Perez shared that a proposal is also being considered to tighten the requirements for public and commercial drivers to ensure the safety of passengers, fellow motorists, and pedestrians.

The initiative is part of the provincial government’s proactive efforts to reduce road accidents and improve transport standards across Pampanga.
