The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is set to enhance its GSIS Touch mobile application with a facial authentication feature, improving security and accessibility for its members and pensioners.
GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo Veloso announced the upgrade during an interview on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to digital innovation.
The new feature will eliminate the need for users to remember their login credentials. Instead, they can simply scan their face to access their accounts, providing a more seamless and secure way to complete transactions anytime, anywhere.
Veloso highlighted the growing reliance on GSIS Touch, with 1.7 million active users and 98 percent of loan transactions now processed through the app and GSIS kiosks. He also noted that 82 percent of retirees and 85 percent of survivorship beneficiaries use the app for their proof of life requirement, reducing the need for travel and long queues at GSIS offices.
“This is a huge relief, especially for our senior citizens,” Veloso said.
The facial authentication upgrade is part of GSIS’ ongoing digital transformation efforts to make government services more efficient, secure, and accessible to its members.
