World number one tennis player Jannik Sinner has been handed a three-month ban for doping, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced on Saturday.
WADA confirmed that Sinner tested positive for clostebol, a banned substance, in March 2024. The agency acknowledged that the violation occurred unintentionally due to negligence by members of his team and did not enhance his performance.
Sinner’s suspension runs from Feb. 9 to May 4, with credit for four days served during a provisional ban. He can resume official training on April 23.
The 23-year-old Italian star has secured 19 singles titles, including three major victories at the 2024 Australian Open, 2024 US Open, and 2025 Australian Open.
