KATHNIEL Fans Club slam Karla Estrada’s political decision; urge her to withdraw
“Maupay nga adlaw! Hindi ito naging madaling desisyon para sa akin at para sa aking pamilya. Pero dahil nandyan kayo at ang buong Tingog Party List, panatag po ako na kakayanin ko. Walang iwanan. Sama-sama tayo! Momshie Karla po, tubong Tacloban, anak ng Region 8.”
Thus, said actress-television host Karla Estrada on Instagram about her decision to run in next year’s elections.
Karla Estrada, the mother of heartthrob Daniel Padilla, has filed her certificate of candidacy as the third nominee of the Tingog Partylist.
But fans of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla (KathNiel) bashed Karla’s political decision that trended on Twitter yesterday, October 8, with the hashtag #WithdrawKarlaEstrada.
KathNiel fans were not happy because the partylist Estrada joined, led by current representative of the Tacloban-based party-list Yedda Romualdez, was one of the lawmakers who denied the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise.
Kapamilya fans expressed disappointment and apprehension and followed the hashtag #KathnielGising until today.
Some fans asked Karla not to ride on KathNiel’s popularity and asked her not to use the “blue heart” in her campaign, a symbol made popular by the KathNiel love team.
One KathNiel fan club that has been supporting the love team for nine years even released an open letter to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, calling on them to take a stand and not to get involved with Karla’s political campaign.
They revealed in the letter that they were told to repost Karla Estrada’s campaign teaser on their page, unaware that it was a sign of her candidacy and that it is against their political stand.
Some fans are very vocal about not supporting Karla’s political career, accusing Karla of being ungrateful to ABS-CBN that gave her a showbiz career.
However, some celebrities expressed support for Karla’s candidacy.
As this developed, ABS-CBN released a statement today, October 9, that they respect Karla Estrada’s decision to join the elections in 2022.
“In her desire to continue serving her kababayans, Karla Estrada has decided to run for public office. We respect her decision and wish our Kapamilya well as she pursues her mission of service,” ABS-CBN stated.
Karla posted the ABS-CBN statement on her Instagram account and thanked them, saying “Salamat, Kapamilya”.
Up until this writing, Daniel and Kathryn have not yet commented on the issue.
