Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on May 9, 2025, led the distribution of certificates of lot awards to 640 displaced families from Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas, during a ceremony held at the Mayor’s Office.
The beneficiaries, who were evicted in March 2024 from the 73-hectare land reclaimed by Clarkhills Properties Corporation, will be relocated to Magalang. Each family will receive a 50-square-meter lot through the city government’s socialized housing project.
“Patuloy po nating lilingapin ang kapakanan ng mga taga-Sitio Balubad na nangangailangan ng sariling bahay,” said Lazatin.
Councilor Atty. Arvin “Pogs” Suller, Officer-in-Charge of the Angeles City Human Settlements and Urban Development Office (ACHSUD), shared that the initial plan was to allot 45 square meters per family, but Mayor Lazatin increased it to 50 square meters following the residents’ appeal.
Earlier, the city government also provided ₱5,000 in cash assistance to each of the affected families.
The relocation comes after the Department of Agrarian Reform Adjudication Board canceled the Certificates of Land Ownership Awards previously issued to the Sitio Balubad residents, allowing Clarkhills to reclaim the property.
