The Angeles City Local Government Unit, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. started today, September 30, the house-to-house distribution of P1,000 cash assistance to 1,000 indigent but deserving students, amounting to P1 million.
This is in line with the Special Program for the Employment of the Students (SPES) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
“Part of our aim is to look out for the welfare of the youth, especially students in need of dire help,” Lazatin said.
“Maliit man pong halaga, nais lamang po nating makatulong sa mga pangangailangan ng ating mga kabataan,” he added.
According to Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, the distribution will be done in two batches with four teams formed to deliver the cash assistance by staff from Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office led by Irish Bonus-Llego and Public Employment Service Office led by Maria Rosa Basilio.
“For this batch, 828 po ang pupuntahan natin until October 7. Yung next batch naman po, 172 ang beneficiaries,” Manuel said.
Last July, some 1,000 poor but deserving students received P1,000 cash assistance under the same program of the city government, also using the 60% counterpart of the LGU for the SPES.
