As part of the priority program and massive reforestation, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. personally led the tree planting activity of the City Hall employees at the Angeles City Watershed in Barangay Sapangbato, on Friday, October 14, 2022.
The tree planting was also attended by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and staff of Mayor’s Office, Gender and Development Office, City Information Office, City Nutrition Office, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and City Environment and Natural Resources Office.
The program aims to ensure the water supply of the future generation, recognizing the importance of water.
Among the seedlings planted today are mango, and jackfruit.
To date, 69,670 seedlings have already been planted in the upland shed. This became possible with the help and partnership of Abacan River Angeles Watershed Advocacy Council Inc. (ARAW-ACI) led by President Renato “Abong” Tayag and Vice President Sonny Dobles as well as other private sectors and non-government organizations.
The city government also hired 30 stewards for the after-care monitoring of the plants and receiving monthly honoraria. (Angeles CIO)
