Our Bit for the Planet

A mangrove planting activity and cleanup drive in Binictican Mangrove, Subic Bay Freeport, has been organized by Samahan ng Mamamahayag sa Subic Bay Freeport, Central Luzon Media Association Zambales-Olongapo Chapter, and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) on February 10, 2023.

About 200 mangrove saplings were planted and sacks of waste were collected. Over 20 volunteers from Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) led by Senior Vice President Engr. Joshua Bingcang, and Vice President Lani Barlongay Macasaet joined this initiative effort to help restore mangrove forests.

Also present were Abacan River and Angeles Watershed – Advocacy Council Inc. (ARAW-ACI) officials, corporate partners of SBMA, and volunteers from the Philippine Navy.

“We’re not just doing this for ourselves, but we are also investing in our environment for our children and for their future,” said Engr. Bingcang.

This activity is in line with BCDA’s year-long reforestation and greening campaign and its commitment to United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. (BCDA)
