Kapampangan pride took center stage as Allyson Hetland of Pampanga placed in the Top 6 Best National Costume during the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Costume Competition held at the Urdaneta City Cultural and Sports Complex.
Hetland showcased the “Libad / Fluvial Parade” costume designed by Sai Macapagal, a piece inspired by Apalit’s centuries-old fluvial parade tradition honoring Saint Peter the Apostle, patron saint of fishermen.

The costume reflects the flow of the Pampanga River through layered, wave-like fabrics, and features “pinukpuk,” a traditional metalcraft technique. Its accessories draw inspiration from the province’s iconic giant lanterns, symbolizing light, unity, and celebration—capturing the essence of Pampanga’s deep-rooted faith and vibrant culture.
