A new Philippine-Korean partnership is set to strengthen the country’s wastewater treatment capabilities following the launch of Groon Philippines, a joint venture between Soliman Ecowaste Management Corp. (SEMC) and South Korea-based Groon Co. Ltd.
The venture was formally launched on June 6 at Midori Hotel in Clark and is expected to support the Philippines’ long-term goals in environmental protection, sustainable industrial development, and water resource conservation.

According to Groon Philippines Chairman Dennis Soliman, the collaboration aims to introduce practical and innovative environmental solutions that will help industries comply with environmental standards while supporting economic growth.
“This is the beginning of a partnership that we believe can help bring better environmental solutions to the Philippines,” Soliman said during the launch.
SEMC, which started as a Pampanga-based wastewater treatment company, has grown into a major player in the industry under Soliman’s leadership. The joint venture was established after Soliman visited South Korea and saw the potential of Groon’s technologies in addressing complex wastewater treatment challenges faced by industries.
Founded in 1999, Groon Co. Ltd. specializes in advanced and eco-friendly water and air treatment systems. The company is known for its proprietary oxidation technology used in environmental remediation and in treating wastewater that is difficult to process using conventional biological treatment methods.
Groon founder Dr. Lee In Ho described the partnership as a significant step toward advancing the environmental and water treatment sectors in the Philippines.
“By combining Groon’s innovative environmental technologies with the Soliman Group’s local networks and business capabilities, we expect to make a tangible contribution to ensuring clean and safe water, reducing environmental pollution, and promoting sustainable development in the Philippines,” Lee said.
Lee added that the collaboration comes at a crucial time as countries confront the challenges of climate change and environmental preservation. He expressed optimism that the partnership would help create a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations of Filipinos.
The launch of Groon Philippines marks a new chapter in environmental innovation, bringing together local expertise and international technology to address growing wastewater management needs across the country.
