As the Philippines braces for another typhoon season, PLDT Home is strengthening its year-round disaster preparedness efforts by enhancing network resilience, expanding customer support, and deploying on-ground assistance to help families stay connected before, during, and after severe weather.
With an average of 20 tropical cyclones entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility each year, the company continues to invest in stronger network infrastructure, backup systems, satellite broadband, and rapid restoration measures to ensure reliable connectivity when it matters most.
Data-driven disaster readiness
PLDT Home has identified three priority areas to improve response efforts: calamity-affected communities still recovering from recent storms, priority connectivity areas needing immediate support, and at-risk cities frequently impacted by typhoons.
Customers in these areas can access after-sales services, connectivity assistance, charging stations, free WiFi, and free calls through PLDT Stores and PLDT At Your Service booths.
PLDT Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr. said connectivity becomes a lifeline during disasters, allowing families to communicate, seek help, and stay informed.
Prepared before landfall
The company’s preparedness strategy includes reinforcing network redundancy, deploying satellite broadband to support restoration, and sending timely SMS advisories to customers about service updates and available assistance during disruptions.
These proactive measures aim to minimize outages and accelerate recovery in communities affected by severe weather.
On-ground assistance for communities
PLDT Home will also deploy PLDT At Your Service teams to affected areas to provide free WiFi, free calls, charging stations, customer assistance, and connectivity support.
As recovery progresses, the teams may also offer installation services, Speedboost promotions, and expedited internet installation to help households restore connectivity faster.
The initiative forms part of the PLDT Group’s #KonektedforResilience campaign, reinforcing the company’s commitment to keeping Filipinos connected when they need it most.
