Reinforcing its commitment to truth and transparency, PLDT continues to anchor its corporate work on the core values of journalism, according to its top communications executive.
PLDT First Vice President and Public Engagement Group Head Roby Alampay emphasized that his transition from media to the country’s integrated telco was guided by the same principles he upheld as a journalist—truth, accountability, transparency, and empowerment.

Speaking before officers of the Pampanga Press Club, led by president Lincoln M. Baluyut, during a gathering at Clark, Alampay reaffirmed the company’s alignment with the media community’s values.
“We’re just happy to align with you and to reaffirm with you that we stand for the same values,” Alampay said. “If you ever feel that we are straying or we are missing on certain values, or we are failing to live up on the values that I mentioned—the values of truth, accountability, transparency, and empowering our citizens.”

PPC Chairman Noel Tulabut welcomed the continued partnership, noting Alampay’s strong ties to the media and thanking PLDT and Smart for over two decades of collaboration with local journalists.
Looking ahead, Alampay shared that PLDT is preparing for its centennial celebration in 2028, with plans to highlight stories from across the regions.
“We want the regions, we want the provinces. We want communities to also tell their stories about them—what telecommunications and communications meant in their history,” he said.
Beyond storytelling, Alampay also promoted PLDT’s disaster preparedness initiative under its SAFEPH advocacy, highlighting the company’s role in building resilient communities.
Earlier, he also met with Mabalacat City Mayor Geld Aquino to discuss AI-driven governance, where PLDT donated an “AI in a Box” device.
Through these efforts, PLDT affirms that even in the corporate sphere, the enduring values of journalism remain central to meaningful public engagement.
