POPE FRANCIS RESTING WELL IN HOSPITAL AMID RESPIRATORY INFECTION

Pope Francis spent a restful second night at Rome’s Gemelli hospital, where he is being treated for a respiratory tract infection, the Vatican said. The 88-year-old pontiff had breakfast, read newspapers, and watched Mass on television before spending his afternoon alternating between reading and resting.

The Vatican confirmed his condition remains stable as he continues drug therapy. Francis, known for his rigorous schedule despite health issues, was admitted after a worsening bout of bronchitis. This marks his fourth hospitalization since becoming pope in 2013, raising concerns about his health.

He skipped his traditional Sunday blessing and did not appear at the hospital window, though he expressed gratitude on social media for the prayers and support he’s received. The Vatican has canceled his events through Monday, and his recovery is being closely monitored.
