PRO3 SEIZES 360 FIREARMS, ARRESTS 356 IN GUN BAN CRACKDOWN FOR PEACEFUL 2025 POLLS

The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has intensified its enforcement of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban in preparation for the 2025 national and local elections, resulting in the seizure of 360 firearms and explosives and the arrest of 356 individuals from January 12 to May 4, 2025.

Among those apprehended were four members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), seven security guards, one police officer, one elected government official, and several civilians.

“This operation reflects the firm commitment of Central Luzon police to eliminate threats to public safety during the election season,” said PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Jean S. Fajardo. “We will not hesitate to arrest anyone who violates the law, regardless of their status.”

Additionally, as part of the campaign against loose firearms, 1,300 individuals voluntarily deposited their weapons while 273 surrendered unlicensed guns.

PBGEN Fajardo emphasized that the initiative not only supports the gun ban but also aims to sustain long-term peace and order in the region. “Community cooperation is vital in reducing the number of illegal firearms that fuel violence,” she added.

PRO3 assured that strict checkpoints and intelligence-led operations will continue throughout the election period to ensure safe, honest, and orderly polls in Central Luzon.
