More than 140 volunteers gathered early Saturday in Barangay Pampang, Angeles City, to clean up the Abacan River, a vital waterway in Pampanga that supports communities, agriculture, and biodiversity.
A total of 158 sacks of waste were collected through the joint effort of Balibago Waterworks System, Inc., the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), along with partner organizations.

The activity demonstrates the impact of collaboration in addressing river pollution and improving water quality, in line with the national government’s call for stronger environmental action.
Held in celebration of National Water Month and World Water Day, the initiative also underscored BCDA’s commitment to sustainability, climate action, and partnerships that help protect natural resources for future generations.
