SBMA arrests suspect in SCTEX hit-and-run case

Law enforcement personnel of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) arrested a driver involved in a series of incidents, including a hit-and-run at the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) tollgate, on June 2.

According to the SBMA Law Enforcement Department (LED), authorities received a report from SCTEX personnel regarding a gray Isuzu Crosswind that allegedly damaged property at the tollgate before fleeing the scene.

While conducting a search operation, LED officers received another complaint involving the same vehicle, which reportedly left a gasoline station along Argonaut Highway without paying for fuel.

The vehicle was later spotted heading toward the Central Business District, prompting authorities to implement CODE 130, or the closure of all Freeport gates, to prevent its escape.

During a pursuit along Tipo Road, the driver allegedly attempted to ram responding officers and patrol units. Authorities disabled the vehicle by shooting one of its tires, leading to the driver’s arrest.

Investigators also learned that the suspect had allegedly failed to pay for fuel worth P1,430.25 at a gasoline station in Angono, Rizal, before traveling to Subic. The gas station owner claimed the driver fled after refueling and later struck a motorcycle while speeding away from the area.

Authorities are conducting further investigation into the incidents and possible charges against the suspect.
