SCUAA III REGIONAL GAMES KICK OFF WITH A CALL FOR UNITY THROUGH SPORTS

The 2025 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) III Regional Games officially opened on February 24, 2025, at the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) Covered Court, bringing together thousands of athletes from 14 state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Central Luzon.

PSAU President Dr. Anita G. David set the tone for the event, emphasizing that beyond competition, the games symbolize unity among SUCs in the region. “This is about Region III,” she declared, underscoring the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office III Director Dr. Lora Yusi echoed this sentiment, expressing full support for the participating athletes and their coaches. She reminded the athletes that SCUAA is more than just a competition—it is a celebration of passion, perseverance, and the unifying power of sports.

CHED Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III also delivered an inspiring message, urging athletes to see sports as a platform that goes beyond medals and championships. “Sports set an example for the next generation. Young dreamers look up to you and see the possibilities of greatness in your journey,” he said.

The weeklong tournament, running until February 28, features various sporting events where athletes will showcase their skills, discipline, and determination. The competition also serves as a crucial preparation for the upcoming National SCUAA Games, where Central Luzon’s best will represent the region on a larger stage.

As the games progress, the event is expected to further strengthen the bonds between SUCs, fostering a sense of regional pride and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
