Six people died while three others remained missing after a motorized banca carrying 13 passengers capsized at Mapanuepe Lake in Barangay Buhawen, San Marcelino, Zambales on Thursday, August 27.

An initial report said the incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. as the group was traveling from Buhawen Proper to Sitio Lumibao after attending a vaccination activity at the barangay center and a 4Ps meeting.

The boat reportedly overturned due to overloading while the passengers were on their way home.

Four passengers survived the incident, while six others, including three adults and three children, died.

Three passengers remained missing, including children aged five and 12 and a pregnant adult.

Authorities were still identifying the victims as search and rescue operations continued at the lake.
