Subic Bay Freeport has been named “Destination of the Year” at the 7th Philippine Sports Tourism Awards held at the Manila Marriott Hotel on August 24, 2026.
Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño received the award with SBMA Tourism Department Manager Mary Jamelle Camba and Division Chief Raquel J. Delos Reyes.
The award recognizes Subic Bay’s growing reputation as a premier sports tourism destination, having hosted major international and local events, including the 2025 Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Subic Bay, which drew more than 1,000 athletes.
Aliño said SBMA will continue building on the Freeport’s sports tourism legacy and further expand its role as a leading sports tourism hub in the country.
Camba credited the recognition to the collective efforts of organizers, stakeholders, athletes, spectators, and the Subic Bay community.
Other major awardees were Puerto Princesa City as Emerging Destination of the Year, New Clark City as Venue of the Year, Sports Tourism Forum–SMX Clark as MICE Event of the Year, and Cynthia Lagdameo Carrion as Sports Tourism Personality of the Year.
