Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. received the Gawad Parangal Award for Most Outstanding Local Chief Executive of the Philippines – Highly Urbanized City Category from the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines, Inc. (ALSWDOPI) on May 15, 2024.
A fast craft bound for Iloilo City, carrying 172 passengers, was rescued back to Bredco Port here after its crew sent a distress call to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Tuesday afternoon.

Cebu Pacific partnered with global humanitarian aid organization Waves For Water Philippines to immediately assist in the transport and distribution of 80 filtration systems free of charge, where 30 filters were turned over to the provincial government, and 50 filters to the municipal government of Iloilo City.
