PLDT, Inc., the Philippines’ largest integrated telecommunications network, and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. have been tapped as the exclusive telco partner of the SCROL (Safety For Children and Their Rights Online) Project by Terre des Hommes Netherlands in Asia, and the Cebu-based Bidlisiw Foundation, Inc., to combat online child sexual exploitation.
Leading fiber internet provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has blocked around 350,000 web addresses or uniform resource locators (URLs) as of end-January 2023, more than double the list the previous year as it intensifies efforts to protect its pure fiber network from illicit content, including those that contain imagery of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC).
Leading digital solutions platform Globe blocked 278,555 URLs and domains hosting child pornography from January to September this year, a record high that represents a leap from last year’s numbers with boosted proactive filtering amid the proliferation of such lewd content online.
