GABALDON, NUEVA ECIJA — A newly constructed cold storage facility in Brgy. Tagumpay, Gabaldon can now accommodate up to 20,000 sacks of onions, providing much-needed support to local farmers in one of the province’s top onion-producing areas.

The ₱42.7-million facility, turned over to the Dupinga Sierra Madre Irrigators Association, was established under the Department of Agriculture’s High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP). It aims to extend the shelf life of harvested onions and help farmers reduce post-harvest losses.

The facility was officially inaugurated on June 10 by DA Central Luzon, led by Regional Technical Director Arthur D. Dayrit, along with Gabaldon Mayor Jobby P. Emata, Vice Mayor Victorino V. Sabino, agricultural officials, and around 230 local farmers.
