Angeles City now with 10 Primary Care Facilities

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. led the blessing and inauguration of two new primary care facilities in Barangays Tabun and Cutud on March 12, 2025, bringing the total number of Rural Health Units (RHUs) in the city to 10.

This milestone is part of the city’s ongoing effort to improve access to healthcare for its residents. Mayor Lazatin emphasized that with the opening of four additional primary care facilities this month, the city is getting closer to meeting the ideal number of health units needed to serve its growing population.

“We’re committed to ensuring that healthcare is accessible to every resident. The addition of these facilities will make it easier for our people to receive essential medical care closer to home,” Mayor Lazatin said.

In addition to the new centers in Barangays Tabun and Cutud, five more primary care units are planned for Barangays Pulungbulu, Anunas, Capaya, Amsic, and Balibago. These will join the existing facilities in Barangays Pandan, Sto. Domingo, Lourdes Northwest, Lourdes Sur East, Balibago, Pulung Cacutud, Malabanias, Pulung Maragul, and Cutud.

The construction of these nine new primary care units was initiated in 2023 as part of Lazatin’s administration’s broader health strategy to ensure that every part of the city has accessible healthcare services.

“When I took office in 2019, there were only six Rural Health Units in the city. Today, with these new facilities, we are making significant strides in providing our people with the healthcare they deserve,” Lazatin remarked.

In addition to expanding physical infrastructure, Mayor Lazatin is ensuring that all newly opened primary care facilities are stocked with essential medicines, making healthcare more accessible and comprehensive for all.

Drawing inspiration from his father, former First District Representative and former Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, the current mayor echoed his belief that “those who have less in life must have more from the government,” underscoring his commitment to serving the underserved and improving the quality of life for all Angeleños.
