Angeles City schedules clustered suspension of face-to-face classes for school disinfection

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Angeles, led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II**, in coordination with DepEd Angeles City, has announced the scheduled suspension of face-to-face classes in public schools and day care centers across all ten clusters in the city.

The suspension aims to allow the City Health Office’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) and the City Sanitation Team to carry out disinfection activities in schools, as part of the city’s proactive response to the seasonal increase in Influenza-like Illness (ILI) cases.

In addition, the City Engineer’s Office will conduct structural inspections of school buildings during the suspension period to ensure the safety of learners and personnel.

The LGU and DepEd have adopted the cluster-based suspension approach to ensure that disinfection and inspection activities are completed efficiently while minimizing disruptions to the school calendar.

The city government reminded the public to continue observing health protocols and maintain good hygiene to prevent illness.
